The Tax Team at Sage is a small central team who manage all of Sage’s tax affairs globally, covering all 23 Countries that we operate in.


As the Team cover multiple Countries and various different types of taxes, the work environment is dynamic and fast paced, requiring not only analytical ability, but excellent problem solving and commercial skills.


The opportunity available will cover a wide variety of tax operations delivering a range of corporate tax services in compliance with laws and regulations. In particular, there is the opportunity to be involved in a number of aspects of transfer pricing and IP incentives as well as working on the tax forecasting / reporting for the Group.


This role could cover a wide variety of activities ranging from ensuring compliance with the Group’s global documentation requirements to being a business partner working with Sage colleagues to evaluate the tax implications of any new commercial operations. Other activities could include managing the global approach to R&D tax credit claims throughout Sage and completing tax reporting and forecasting to facilitate the Group’s communications with the external market.


Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Execute the global transfer pricing policy for IP and business models.
Monitor the execution of the global intercompany recharge framework under the transfer pricing policy.
Ensure the Group is compliant with global transfer pricing documentation requirements.
Implement a global process to maximise IP incentives globally.
Monitor and project manage the completion of the Group’s R&D claims, including managing a global adviser.
Execute tax forecasting and reporting to support the financial planning and reporting requirements of the business.
Execute tax strategy forecasting and deliver timely and robust outputs.
Manage the auditors and the tax review of the Group consolidated financial statements.
·         Build and maintain strong working relationships with key global stakeholders and proactively educate on transfer pricing to inform business decisions.

·         Work with the wider commercial and finance teams to support the Tax Senior Manager with the review of any material changes to the business operations or contracting arrangements of the Group.


Key performance indicators:

Robust execution of the global transfer pricing policy for IP and business models, including the global intercompany recharge framework
IP tax incentives are optimised
Robust tax forecasting and reporting that meets business needs
Interim and year-end audits with no unadjusted audit differences for tax

Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

·         Proficiency in English language, verbal and written

·         Qualified tax professional with 6+ years Corporate Tax experience with good transfer pricing and reporting knowledge, preferably from the “big 4”

·         International mind-set and ability to work with dispersed, multicultural and multi-functional teams

·         Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Good relationship builder at all levels, with ability to work in a matrix organisation and manage multiple stakeholders
Results oriented, demonstrates initiative, is adaptable and flexible
Experience of developing a team and coaching junior colleagues


Experience of global organisations
Technical / professional qualifications:

Accountancy and/or tax qualification
Bachelor or Masters degree
