The Solution Architect is responsible for working with the customer and sales team to position appropriate products and services that fit the customer’s business environment and achieve their business objectives, while mitigating risks to both parties.  The role is to understand the customer’s business drivers, current IT environment, business requirements, priorities and value of return and to help define a strategy for a program or project to deliver customer and vendor satisfaction. Success has the following criteria:


  • Achieve positive feedback (NPS score) from the customer, created by the ability of Sage to deliver against the defined architecture/approach
  • High percentage of deal closure due to acceptable and digestible approaches for the customer, creating services bookings to allow growth in the company
  • Profitable engagement for Sage, due to accurate and well thought through projects and approaches


Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  1. Designs, develops, documents and delivers solution architectures that record and meet the client needs
  2. The solution architecture must translate client business vision and strategy into an effective enterprise level change program by creating, communicating and improving the key principles and models that describe the customers future state.
  3. Ensure delivery teams are aware of the required approach and objectives, and assist in resolving any issues to facilitate accurate and timely completion of projects and programs
  4. Act as an expert and evangelist for Sage’s applications and technology
  5. Acquire and maintain an expert level of knowledge on Sage product portfolio, including third party products


Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

1.       Excellent presentation skills to a C-level audience focusing on demonstrating business value rather than technical solutions
2.       Ability to break down complex problems into manageable pieces allowing communication to an audience with a variety of backgrounds
3.       Ability to convey expert knowledge of ERP, business management systems, processes and best practices, with the ability to recite examples showing track record of success (e.g. Finance, Warehousing, Logistics, Procurement, CRM, Service, Manufacturing)
4.       Ability to develop and maintain excellent customer relationships



1.       Experience of end-to-end involvement in a range of customer industries, technologies and sizes from 100 days upwards

2.       Experience of different project or development approaches



Technical / professional qualifications:

Continual professional development

Project or Program Management certification

Technical or Product certifications from previous employer’s/products


Key performance indicators:

  1. Quality of deliverables assessed by feedback from colleagues and customers (NPS)
  2. Annual volume of service bookings secured which uses key deliverables above
  3. Commercial viability (acceptability and profitability) of programs/designs
