 This role is accountable for the delivery of complex or high-profile IT projects and programmes for Sage IT and working closely with business colleagues from across all regions. The IT Project Manager will be accountable for initiating, setting direction, creating plans, defining and managing resource to deliver against the needed deliverables. The project manager will manage teams of multidisciplinary colleagues in a virtual and matrix environment to ensure project delivery is executed to the highest standards and risks and issues are effectively identified, managed and mitigated. The Project Manager will manage multiple concurrent and complex projects at any one time. With a broad range of stakeholders, the project manager must be able to communicate, challenge and influence at all levels.


Being part of the Enterprise PMO, the IT Project Manager will help support portfolio management within Sage, reflecting best practice in project management and acting as an evangelist of the Business Operations project approach across Sage. The role holder will possess the ability to cope with an organisation that is going through much change. Moreover, the Project Manager will need to have strong Stakeholder Management to ensure that stakeholders are kept up-to-date with transparent information. The role holder will need to be able to deal with stakeholders in different geographical locations (e.g. America, Europe and Africa) and tailor their approach based upon the audience.


  • Accountable for the end to end delivery of large and complex global projects within the IT portfolio
  • Leadership of project teams, ensuring delivery though these teams at the highest standards
  • Delivery projects to time / cost / scope / quality in line with IT PMO defined methodology
  • Planning and tracking of multiple projects, including defining required resource and budget for delivery, and communication of progress through regular reporting
  • Identification and management of risks and issues to prevent or reduce impact on delivery within projects or through cross project / programme risks
  • Contractor and 3rd party supplier management within projects
  • Focus on delivery to meet benefits of the project
  • Lead project debriefs and implement improvements to build on lessons learnt
  • Support the development and roll out of IT PMO portfolio, gate and Project Management Methodology across One IT
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering multiple concurrent and large scale international IT projects, involving a range of technologie

  • Leadership of multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix and virtual environment

  • Ability to quickly build meaningful relationships, with strong influencing and negotiation skills, demonstrable at all levels within the organisatio

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate and present to all level

  • Ability to tailor styles and approach to suit audience and requirements while operating in a fast paced and changing environmen

  • Enthusiastic with high levels of energy, self–motivation, resilience, drive and initiative.


  • Qualified in a structured PM discipline e.g. Prince, MSP, PMI, AMP
  • Advanced MS Project and MS Office skills
  • Experience with JIRA (or other Agile PM tools)
