This is a newly created role, that will be accountable for driving rapid growth in e-commerce / online zero-touch sales revenue across the UK & Ireland for Sage.  This includes not only driving growth in direct sales via owned digital properties (inc. Sage.com) but also identifying & delivering new, external commercial opportunities including sales via UKI retail partners and Sage’s key, strategic partnerships such as Amazon, Google & Salesforce.  The level of ambition (and size of opportunity) to grow e-commerce at Sage, a FTSE 100 business with a global presence, is a once-in-a-career opportunity.  This role is a key leadership role within the UKI and  Global E-Commerce Function and will be the senior representative & owner of E-Commerce across Sage in the UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key e-commerce / online sales leadership role in the UKI – owning the development and execution of the UKI Annual Operating Plan for e-commerce / online sales (in-line with global guidelines & growth targets) that drive significant incremental online revenue growth for the UK & Ireland
  • Represent Global E-Commerce across the UKI organisation and take ownership of the strategic direction of building out e-commerce as a Regional sales function across all key GTM channels including Direct (for both new & existing customers), Accountants & Partners
  • Recruit, motivate, lead & coach a nascent UKI E-Commerce / Online Sales Team, prioritising efforts & plans that will have maximum business impact & ensure that the team is deeply cross-functional in order to meet needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Partner with multiple global & regional stakeholders – including Digital & Integrated Demand Marketing, Sales, Product & Finance – to develop commercial plans that articulate & differentiate between incremental sales growth vs. channel shift
  • Assess & implement new commercial / sales opportunities with external partners to maximise e-commerce revenue growth & profitability within the UK and Ireland

Qualifications

  • Very commercially astute with a proven, demonstrable track record of growing e-commerce revenue in a large, multi-channel, matrix-structured organisation  – ideally via a mix of direct sales and indirect sales (including 3rd party marketplaces / retail)
  • Significant experience in developing and launching e-commerce products / channels across B2B & B2C organisations in an agile way
  • Demonstrable success in driving online recurring / subscription revenues
  • Significant experience of driving e-commerce revenue growth in turnaround or start-up environments – this newly created role requires a self-starter who has a track record of creating and implementing sales strategies, tactical plans and online trading processes from scratch (this is not a BAU role)
  • Strong knowledge of typical customer journeys and the factors which deliver a successful online experience – ideally SaaS / B2B / SMB customer journeys
  • First class communication skills and experience with demonstrable success of building strong, effective relationships across functions and geographies and inspiring teams towards delivering world-class products & experiences that Sage’s customers will love and will result in significant e-commerce revenue growth in the UKI
  • Significant experience at a Senior Manager / Head of / Director level with responsibility and ownership for an E-Commerce P&L, with demonstrable success in significantly driving revenue growth and margin improvement
