This role is responsible for the definition and design of solutions to support the global finance transformation and standardisation of Sage back-office systems.  This responsibility includes but is not limited to; working closely with the business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into designs and IT deliverables, liaising with the delivery teams on technical detail, overseeing builds and ensuring alignment with architecture, and representing finance projects and related architectures on global governance boards.  You will work alongside the broader architecture team and its domain specialists to ensure the design encompasses all non-functional requirements of the solution and ensure strategic fit with the Sage target architecture.

On a day to day basis you will work closely with project teams and be the voice of architecture.  You will work within the existing framework and according to architecture principles and ensure the project and architecture leadership teams are kept informed of progress through the standard reporting methods and forums.


Key accountabilities and decision ownership: (8 or 10 max)

  • To work closely with the business analysts and users, understand requirements and translate into IT deliverables
  • To define and design the solution architectures to support the global transformation of the Sage finance function
  • To work with domain architects on technical details and non-functional requirements of solutions
  • To work closely with the delivery teams and oversee development of solutions
  • To provide architecture governance and represent solutions at project and architecture board meetings
  • To report on project progress to the project manager and architecture leadership
  • To work with the Enterprise Architects and business leaders to build functional and product roadmaps
  • To work with Architecture leadership and contribute on IT strategy


Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

  • Experience of designing global enterprise and solution architectures across internal systems specifically within finance functions
  • Team player with experience of working with distributed and global teams
  • Working with senior business stakeholders, helping to shape thinking and strategy by providing support and educating in the art of the possible
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate and present complex information concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, prepared to challenge conventional thinking

Ability to drive change and rally others behind an agenda

  • Solution designs and patterns for projects and initiatives
  • Improved solution architecture standards and processes
  • Architecture governance of projects/initiatives through to implementation
  • IT roadmaps for key products/initiatives aligned with IT strategy
  • Quality of relationships with Architecture and IT

Quality of relationships with business leadership


Technical / professional qualifications:

  • Degree in information Technology / Computer Science / Software Engineering
  • Enterprise Architecture / Frameworks certified – TOGAF (at least), Zachman, DoDAF, FEAF
  • Experience with Business Analysis/Architecture and Architecture design tooling and notational standards
