Enable Sage to materially influence revenue and cost lines by supporting the business planning process, financial appraisal and resultant monitoring of business plans, pricing decisions, investment opportunities, significant projects and M&A.


Key accountabilities and decision ownership:


Lead Annual Strategic/Business Planning process, including identifying key drivers and levers of growth, modelling scenarios, developing a realistic projection to support investor expectations and working with Commercial Finance colleagues to develop a robust Budget which withstands rigorous testing;
Act as an influential and trusted partner to the business in identifying and developing accelerated margin accretive sources of revenue, new growth opportunities and pricing opportunities;
Produce business case methodology and appraisal processes that ensure all material investment decisions are understood, rigorously challenged and supported by appropriate financial analysis to maximise ROI;
Work alongside the Sage Pricing Team to provide financial modelling support and commercial challenge in the construction of pricing business cases where product managers wish to depart from the pricing rule;
Work closely with Marketing & Competitor Insight Team to develop an in-depth knowledge of competitor prices and structures for all major Sage competitors; and ensure the business considers and acts on this intelligence where required;
Where appropriate measure financial returns on completed capital projects;
Champion a return on investment and data-driven decision-making culture;
Provide assistance to the Performance Reporting team at critical points in the financial year – e.g. Quarterly performance and Investment Reviews.

Skills, know-how and experience:


Must have:

More than 2 years’ experience of investment appraisal analysis and long range financial planning;
Experience in providing actionable insights to support commercial decision making and drive business strategy and growth objectives.
Drives agendas to secure real business outcomes
Able to combine a confidence to challenge and assert one’s own views amongst senior colleagues and peers with an ability to listen and adapt to the viewpoints and opinions of others
Used to working to deadlines with minimal supervision and managing multiple stakeholders
Advanced user of excel, with excellent skills in financial modelling and trend analysis
Outstanding analytical and financial interpretation skills
Able to tackle complex problems in an environment of ambiguity where not all the desired information may be available
Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated


Previous TMT sector experience
Previous Financial / Banking / FMCG experience
Technical / professional qualifications:

Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA or equivalent), 
Key performance indicators:

ROI from investment projects where Strategic Finance have engaged;
Additional revenue earned from pricing decisions taken from SF engagement;
Value added to Corporate Development team when SF have engaged;
Customer satisfaction from aligned Finance Business Partners.
