Support the Strategy Team in assessing market opportunities and risks for growth – against current strategy; organic, inorganic and geographic. Analyse and support execution of strategic investments across the organisation in order to build the growth engines for the business 3-5 years in the future, with a focus on bringing discipline and speed to the group’s strategic decision-making process and creating deeper clarity on the investments being made across the company.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Undertake strategic and market analysis to support the assessment of the Group’s strategic options.
Carry out the analysis (quantitative & qualitative) of strategic growth initiatives and under the direction of the EVP Strategy / Director Strategy, with the aim of supporting the formulation of recommendations regarding strategic value and optimal path to successful implementation
Work with Competitive & Market Insight teams to track the most recent activities of Sage’s key competitors and assess impact on both current and future Sage strategy
Support strategic evaluation of potential divestitures and proposed acquisitions in partnership with the Corporate Development team (deal execution will be managed by the M&A Exec)
Coordinate and own project plans across all strategic initiatives (managing PMO resources as needed)

Skills, know-how and experience:
Strong analytical, financial analysis and forecasting skills
Experience of strategy, business planning, strategic assessments of M&A and an understanding of transaction, implementation and operational issues
Intellectual strength & credibility – strategic thinker with a commercial orientation who understands the operational challenges faced by a business and the potential strategy derailleurs
Experience in the software & technology industry, software enabled business and cloud based development, the digital economy and development, partner, customer and market issues
An additional European language written & spoken fluently
Ability to operate in an international matrix organisation – can get thing done without formal reporting relationships
Technical / professional qualifications:
Demonstrable 2-5 year track record of positive impact with a strategy consulting firm, investment bank, and / or investment firm, or else a Strategy role in a publicly traded company and/or venture-backed / private equity owned company
