Overview

This role is responsible for developing and executing the global internal communications strategy for the UK’s biggest tech company. Our Internal Communications Director is responsible for bringing to life our strategy, supporting our leaders in communicating it to their regions and functions, whilst demonstrating world class knowledge of the latest colleague communication innovations.  Currently, our colleague communications toolkit includes digital, in-person and live, interactive broadcast platforms - we want someone who can keep us ahead of the next wave of technology that will help us engage our colleagues with our mission.  This leader will develop the internal comms strategy and deliver it through a network of local and functional communications experts.

Responsibilities

Strategy and planning:

  • Contributing to the full communications strategy, supporting the VP, Communications, senior Sage Executives  and other in-country communications leaders where necessary in delivery of the overall communications and business strategy
  • Developing and delivering a programme of leadership and all-employee communications to deepen knowledge and understanding of the company strategy, progress, and results.
  • Advise Communications best practice in all situations including crisis and take a lead on the development and implementation of a crisis communications plan.
  • Work with the wider Communications leadership team to develop and deliver the internal element of all global communication campaigns.
  • Evaluate and enhance the channels and tools available to deliver internal communications effectively, with a focus on simplifying, aligning and ensuring two-way feedback.

Measurement and review:

  • Leading a regular review of global external product communication requirements whilst maintaining strong relationships with business leaders to ensure activity is appropriately focused.
  • Devising an effective method of success measurement and ensure its implementation and delivery against an agreed set of performance measures.

Qualifications

  • Strategic understanding of developing a communications strategy to align with the Sage goals, strategy and future vision.
  • Significant proven internal communications experience in a FTSE/Fortune company. Viewed as an expert, able to advise and counsel all levels in the organisation on best practice.
  • Leadership of a global communications team
  • Strong communicator – excellent written and verbal in English
  • Strong collaboration and team work skills.
  • Used to working with senior executives, Board Directors
  • Strong stakeholder management experience and influencing skills
  • Demonstrable track record leading and managing a broad range of communications campaigns
  • Experience of working in an international, matrix environment
  • Solid understanding of digital capabilities and social media campaigns to support communications objectives
