We are now looking for a highly experienced, results driven e-commerce heavyweight to help us define, implement & lead a best-in-class online sales programme across a range of key global & regional 3rd party online marketplaces (including Amazon), resulting in significant growth in e-commerce sales revenue. 


This newly created position is a key leadership role within the Global E-Commerce Function. The ideal candidate will be a ‘big picture’ strategic thinker who is also detail and results-oriented, highly organized and fully committed to flawless execution across everything that they and the wider E-Commerce Team do.


A key role for the Online Marketplace Activation & Performance Director is to be an inspirational leader who can articulate a vision for how Sage can (and should) utilise 3rd party online marketplaces / properties to drive zero-touch online sales.  Collaborating with other key functions across the business including Field Marketing, Sales, Product Marketing, Digital Experience, Operations & Technology, this role will be responsible for ensuring that Sage develops a consistent commercial approach to indirect online sales via 3rd part online marketplaces and that best practice execution of these revenue driving initiatives is delivered world-wide. 


The Online Marketplace Activation & Performance Director will need to be both highly entrepreneurial and analytical in their approach, with a background in getting world-class 3rd party online marketplace sales programmes (and supporting capabilities) embedded and adopted within complex, matrix-type organisations ideally from start-up through to scale and internationally


  • Play a key leadership role in the Global E-Commerce Function – Serve as the subject matter expert on 3rd party online marketplace activation & optimisation across Sage
  • Develop, own & articulate the vision for Sage’s adoption and activation of 3rd party online marketplaces globally and lead the execution / activation of new 3rd party e-commerce opportunities and optimise existing 3rd party relationships
  • Influence all relevant internal stakeholders through deep domain expertise, gravitas & demonstrable results to ensure world-class activation & optimisation of marketplaces as a key driver of zero touch, online sales revenue
  • Create and lead a cross-functional, virtual team across the business aligned around driving commercial offerings and merchandising improvements across 3rd party online marketplaces to deliver significant uplift in conversion rates, units & revenue per visitor
  • Identify, negotiate & close new, 3rd party online marketplace partnerships
  • Conduct rigorous analysis of trading performance & growth potential to build Sage’s marketplace presence through rapid experimentation & commercial approach
  • Responsible for the ongoing reporting and analysis of all 3rd party marketplace activation and optimisation programme KPIs, driving insight and implementing the required actions to ensure that marketplaces against revenue targets


  • Specialised e-commerce experience focused on driving zero-touch, online sales. This is not a generalist digital marketing role, it is a highly commercial, e-commerce focused leadership role
  • A demonstrable successful track record of developing, implementing and embedding a 3rd party marketplace strategy across multiple geographies, leading the programme from concept to being an established e-commerce sales channel – Amazon experience a minimum, plus regional marketplaces preferred
  • Very commercially astute with a proven, demonstrable track record of securing buy-in and budget for growing e-commerce revenue via 3rd party marketplaces internationally in a large, multi-channel, matrix-structured organisation across multiple regions
  • 5+ years’ experience of running (in-house or agency-side) indirect online sales (B2B / B2B2C) via online retailer partnerships which complement a core direct sales strategy
  • Demonstrable first-hand experience of building / operating an e-commerce programme via the Amazon Business platform
